Circular economy aims to reduce waste and make better use of resources throughout the entire product life cycle.
In the Marketplace context, this means that, when you sell certain products or packaging, you must comply with the applicable legal obligations on registration, financing, collection, recycling and waste traceability.
These obligations may affect, among others, products or elements related to:
- Packaging and packaging waste: packaging, commercial packaging or any packaging associated with the product.
- Electrical and electronic equipment: products subject to WEEE regulations.
- Batteries and accumulators: batteries, accumulators or products that include them.
- Other EPR categories: depending on the country, there may be additional categories, such as decoration items, DIY and gardening products, toys or other categories subject to extended producer responsibility.
European regulations related to circular economy, waste management and extended producer responsibility include:
| Scope | Reference regulation | What you need to consider |
|---|---|---|
| Packaging and packaging waste | Regulation (EU) 2025/40 | Sets requirements for packaging and packaging waste, including obligations related to sustainability, labelling, waste management and extended producer responsibility. |
| Waste electrical and electronic equipment, WEEE | Directive 2012/19/EU | May require registration, collection, financing, recycling and traceability obligations. |
| Batteries, accumulators and their waste | Regulation (EU) 2023/1542 | May require specific obligations for batteries, accumulators and products that include them. |
To ensure traceability and compliance with regulations, you must register the corresponding producer identifiers in Mirakl when you sell products subject to these obligations.
In the Circular economy tab, you will see a table with the registered identifiers. This table shows:
- Country: territory to which the identifier applies.
- EPR category: extended producer responsibility category, such as packaging, WEEE, batteries, accumulators or other categories depending on the country.
- Producer identifier: number or code that proves your registration or membership in the corresponding system.
The identifier must match the country where you sell the products and the applicable EPR category.
To add an identifier, access your shop’s circular economy settings:
- Location: Settings > Shop > Circular economy
- Direct URL: access Circular economy
- Go to Settings > Shop.
- Select the Circular economy tab.
- Select Add identifier.
- Choose the corresponding country.
- Select the applicable EPR category.
- Enter the producer identifier.
- Save the changes.
As a seller, you are responsible for complying with the environmental and circular economy regulations applicable to the products you sell.
This responsibility applies when you place or sell products on the European Union market, regardless of your geographical location.
PcComponentes may request additional information or documentation if it needs to verify compliance with these obligations.
- The identifier must be valid for the corresponding country and EPR category.
- Obligations may vary between countries, even within the European Union.
- Keep the documentation proving your registration and your membership in the corresponding compliance system.
- Periodically review whether your products, packaging, batteries or accumulators are subject to new obligations.
- If you have doubts about your obligations, consult your legal adviser or the authorised compliance organisation in the country where you sell.
- You must comply with the applicable circular economy regulations: especially if you sell products subject to packaging, WEEE, battery or accumulator obligations.
- You must add your producer identifiers in Mirakl: go to Settings > Shop > Circular economy and select Add identifier.
- The identifier may vary by country and EPR category: review each territory and each category in which you sell.
- Compliance is the seller’s responsibility: keep the documentation proving your registration and compliance.
- PcComponentes may request additional information: and limit the sale of affected products if compliance is not proven when required.
